The left margin of the road conditions page now also features a link to the latest on the Department of Transportation and the Custer National Forest Site showing the road closures in the forest south of Red Lodge and in the Pryors.
Hiking trips with maps south of town are posted here:

If those photos appeal to you, you might like the
cabin on Rock Creek
I have listed very close to those trails
Or also in the neighborhood are these
four acres with trees
close to the trails in the West Fork Canyon on the way to the ski runs with all utilities installed.
If you drive west along the Mountains you come to Nye and here I listed a
log cabin on the Stillwater River on 1.4 acres
in Midnight Canyon. This cabin appraised last year for $430,000. I listed it for $395,000 in July, but it got appraised last week for $ 328,000 because of the lack of comparable sales - so now they will sell it for the appraised value and that after they had turned down an offer for $390,000 earlier! The Stillwater River is one of the three rivers in Montana - according to a local outfitter - that is rated to be a "Blue Ribbon Trout Stream". Click on "Photos" in the left margin to see them all.
Ellen Rose listed a
townhome on the golf course
here in Red Lodge, but she has it under contract already. Good grief, I thought the market was slow; apparently not for her. Did you know there are 120+ homes for sale in the tiny town of Red Lodge?
Ellen also has price reductions to announce for the
RV spot on Rock Creek, which is now reduced to $60,000 with owner financing
The lot along the highway in Bearcreek, which is five minutes down the hill from Red Lodge to the East, is now reduced to just $23,500 - owner financing is available there as well, and it is also
zoned for either residential or commercial development
While I am writing this I got a new listing:
203 acres eight miles from Joliet for only $295,000 - which is the freshly appraised and discounted value. It is very good dry hay land and grazing out there. There are three draws on the property with trees for cover for the wildlife. The east edge of the property is a sandstone cliff with spectacular views down into the valley and beautiful and healthy pines. From the top of the rolling hills you can see the ski slopes of Red Lodge and the whole Beartooth Range to the south. To the west the jagged crests of the Crazies are peeking over the hills, brightening with the morning sun and to the east the Pryor Mountains show off at sunset. So if you just want to run a few cows and horses, this is the property for you. It is off the grid, but nothing solar or wind power wouldn't fix. If you want to bring in electric, the nearest outlet is about half a mile away.
I also have a price reduction! The
480 acres near Fort Benton, which grows peas, grain and hay is now for sale for an absolute bottom price of $ $495,000. There are two barns, a pond and solar and wind power are installed. The owner got hurt in the Iraq war and now is in a bind and needs to relocate ASAP.

For the gold, I have a new
opportunity in British Columbia, Canada. There are three gold deposits there, one is hard rock, and the other two are placer. The mining company needs a shot in the arm to bring at least one of these deposits into full production; they are also open to a JV. If you have $1.5 or $3.5MM to invest and think a goldmine is a good bet, take a look:
Regarding the black gold, aka oil, there is an
oil Investment opportunity in Illinois to work together with an experienced operator acquiring a lease and reworking the oil wells. Production is estimated to be 25-40 BOPD. $400K for a 40% JV
Mike Olson in Minnesota also has a
new listing in Moorhead.
A very nice home with big garages, 4 bedrooms and 2 baths for just $195,000
The Moorhead/Fargo area is the place to be if you are looking for a job. One of the few places in the country where the economy is strong and getting stronger.
I personally hung up my license for Minnesota and North Dakota, Mike Olson is our broker there and he is running the show with his wife and another agent under my company Sky Lodge Properties, Inc. which of course is still licensed in those states.

I am sure you have heard about genetically engineered food crops, if you would like to know more about it, I found a
very informative video on YouTube.
What you might have not heard about are 3D printers. Now here is an interesting invention. The "paper" tray is filled with powder. The scanner scans for internal parts that have been assembled and inserted, which can even be printed in different colors and will again be fully functional moving parts, but if printed will not have to be assembled later, it is just printed in. The material can be injected with a compound that will make the part strong, or it can be used for injection molding.
Pretty slick, take a look.
If you replace the industrial powder
with chocolate….. oh boy! There is no end to the imagination!
While we are inventing things, have you seen the new cars with the label "FlexFuel" attached to them? That means you can run them on alcohol instead of gas. Was your granddad a moonshiner? Here is your chance to revive the family tradition. Cook up your own alcohol with whatever comes to mind and is readily available - don't drink it, put it in your gas tank! Your gas bill will shrivel down to pennies; you can even run a generator on it and use it for your mountain cabin. There is a book "Alcohol can be a Gas" (available at Amazon.com) that describes how to go about it and you can see some of the explanations at
David Blume's website.
So now that I cut your gas bill way down, I freed up enough capital for you to afford your Ranchette in Montana, come this way while the weather is nice and the grass is green!
:-)
Best Regards,
Dorothea Lowe, Broker
